Prayer Shawl Ministry

Have you heard of a Prayer Shawl?
No it's not a shawl you wear when you pray, although of course you could, if you wanted to

A small group of ladies from the St. Ed's Church family knit the shawls in their spare time. We pray as we knit, that they will bring comfort to the recipients

T he Vicar prays for God's blessing on those who will receive the shawls during our communion service. The shawls are given to people who are ill, bereaved or needing support in anyway

They are given from the whole Church in the name of Christ with a prayer of comfort and encouragement. The recipients always seem to feel the warmth, comfort and love that is intended in that shawl, and we are so pleased to be able to offer this gift

We started the ministry seven years ago and so far have given out over two hundred shawls. The shawls are not just intended to be given to our Church family, and we will always be happy to give a shawl if you think someone would benefit

Shawls have been sent far and wide, even to Australia, in one instance. Please contact us if you would like us to donate a shawl, or if you would like to join us in this ministry
